Looking around the industry it seems some are bullish on one word .co, others .io, Rob Monster has a big thread on Namepros about being bullish on .org.

Who is your number 2? After .com what is your second favorite extension?

.Net

.GLOBAL will be the most popular eventually as businesses look gor a global reach.

.io for me. Being used a lot by the Tech industry in SF and beyond

I have always liked .ORG.

Brad Mugford says

November 6, 2019 at 11:59 pm

.ORG.

I would say .COM and .ORG are often the preferred choice.

Most other extensions are chosen because the preferred choice was not available.

So it that org for you Brad? I agree on .org and also know many who have not been able to sell a .org no matter how hard they tried.

Brad Mugford says

November 7, 2019 at 12:15 am

Yeah. .ORG is my second best performing extension after .COM.

The bar for .ORG needs to be really high.
You need really popular terms and/or terms that fit well in .ORG to get interest and make sales.

i have done very well with .ai and .me but these have been key words that would have sold for high 6 or 7 figures if they were .com

i really like .org but ive never had any 5 figure sales…some high 4 figure sales

.co and .io with great key words still fetch nice sales, but i haven’t had much success with these
right now i would go with .ai as i have sold 12 to endusers and my roi has been nice

but .com rules the reign

Snoopy says

None, I only like .com.

Regarding .CO and .IO, anyone buying today is buying well after the market has peaked. Aftermarket sales are falling at 20%+ per year and it was revealed today that the .co registration base is now shrinking as well. .AI has taken a lot of that market. The ROI would need to be very high in the first 1-2 years for it to work out if buying at this late stage.

true…i handregged 30 .ai domains on the day .ai launched softly in 2013-14..just missed getting G.ai by minutes…big G later bought it, i heard …the seller wouldnt disclose price …i tried to buy it from the original registrant in 2015 but he wanted 500 K usd…a guy from china whose startup got acquired by baidu…he had over 100 ai domains

i believe .io may be going down in aftermarket sales…streaming.io sold for only 5100 usd yesterday

Snoopy says

Aftermarket volumes are falling for sure in .io (and .co)

.io aftermarket sales (namebio)

2017 1162 sales
2018 915 sales
2019 666 sales

.co aftermarket sales (namebio)
2017 – 726 sales
2018 – 470 sales
2019 – 291 sales

.CO for me.
In term of sales we are selling .co more and more into low 5 figures.
If i were to build a website for myself and com is not available .co is my second choice.
.co is more generic then .org but then again what kind of business m’i getting into?
That would reflect into my extension.

congrats, rich

.company is my favorite extension next to .com. Google’s development and use of X.company is quite exciting as just one good example of the extension being used.

.de of course

look at the sales

Robert Monster says

November 7, 2019 at 1:02 am

After .COM, I actually prefer .CO names that you buy for a year for cheap and flip. I like the multiplier of being able to pick up a flash sale .CO for $1-3 and flip it for 4 or 5 figures. People are doing it.

However, the .CO expiry stream is becoming very competitive so this market is becoming more competitive and may soon have less opportunity for newcomers as it becomes efficient.

So, I like .ORG because of the reasonable after-market opportunities assuming you can pick up .ORG on opportunistic terms. However, I am definitely NOT recommending indiscriminate .ORG speculation.

Why is it you ask a question and some people turn it into a debate?

Raymond Hackney says

November 7, 2019 at 1:09 am

Because some people are just trolls, but we will remedy that.

Frank says

November 7, 2019 at 1:12 am

Because a lot of people in this so called industry have no lives. The mods should do more to regulate it as well. I mean my 9 year old can understand the question here.

.APP, recent report of ZB.app sold for $91000 by DNJournal and Namebio was submitted by me, has sold 8000.app, OTC.app, Bao.app and Yun.app this year and more.

Jeremy says

November 7, 2019 at 1:13 am

Oh and 8000.app pick-up price from DN reported at Namebio wasn’t my recent sold off price.

Raymond Hackney says

This thread is for those to post who their second favorite extension is, not for others to post at them their dispersions. So no one ask “Why did my comment get deleted?” You now know why it was deleted, this nonsense gets old.

I like .co, but only when the matching .com is non-conflicting. Otherwise its .net.

.io is lovely with short dictionary words and minor variations, but you don’t find them often.

Richard B Morris says

November 7, 2019 at 9:26 am

.co for me by far, for .org is for organizations/charities, .net is old school and .io is for tech that doesn’t interest me. Go.co!!!

.live

As the mobile world evolves and streaming video becomes the primary source of content, Live will begin to gain momentum due to its self-describing purpose and it is likely to increase the potential growth for .app extensions as well.

I believe .org is the most trusted alternative domain and it is near equal to the trust of .com depending on its use for certain types of businesses (organizations or charitable causes).

.CO is my go-to.

It’s close to .com and gaining popularity in the market.

.NET feels odd to me. Always has.
.ORG feels non-profit.
.IO is still a little confusing for non-techy clients.
